Eldershield
ElderShield is a severe disability insurance plan that provides basic financial protection to those who need long-term care, especially in their old age.
Depending on the plan your loved one has, ElderShield will pay a monthly cash benefit of $300 per month for up to 60 months, or $400 per month for up to 72 months, if your loved one has a severe disability. The Ministry of Health has appointed three private insurers to administer ElderShield, namely, Aviva, Great Eastern and NTUC Income.
ElderShield premiums are determined at age of entry and paid annually until age 65. The premium amount does not increase with age. Premiums can be paid through Medisave or in cash.
Dr Seow provides such assessments either in the clinic or at the patients home for Eldershield.

Iron Deficiencies & Treatment
Why is Iron important?
Iron is essential for the body to make haemoglobin. Haemoglobin carries oxygen from the lungs to the body and builds new cells and makes energy.

Low iron levels may lead to feeling tired, breathless, having brittle nails, hair loss, difficulty concentrating, frequent headaches, and mouth ulcers.

Before the infusion
The doctor will speak to you and examine you to assess the cause of your anaemia. It is important that the reason for low iron levels is fully investigated.

What is an IV Iron Infusion?
Intravenous Iron Infusions give iron directly into the bloodstream through a vein. A needle or cannula is placed in the vein and then attached to a drip that contains an iron/saline solution. The fluid is slowly “dripped” into the vein and mixes with the blood in your body.

Why might I need IV Iron?
The most common way to treat iron deficiency anaemia is to take iron tablets or liquids. This works well for most people and is usually tried first. However, an Iron Infusion may be required if you are;

-
Unable to tolerate iron tablets/liquid
-
Unable to absorb iron by the gut
-
Not responding to iron tablets due to chronic health problems
-
Have chronic kidney or heart failure
